Douglas County's Slash and Mulch Program
Do you have excess yard trimmings that you would like to recycle? Each year Douglas County has a slash/mulch program that is held every Saturday from the end of May through the beginning of September. Residents can also pick up free mulch material at the Castle Rock site at the end of the slash collection season. This program is part of the County’s wildfire mitigation and recycling efforts.
Acceptable materials include:
- Tree branches and shrubbery with a maximum length of six feet and maximum diameter of 12 inches
- All loads must be covered and tied
Unacceptable materials include:
- Stumps
- Roots
- Lumber
- Ties
- Grass
- Dirt
- Weeds
- Household trash
- Appliances

Inclement Weather
Should there be inclement weather at the Castle Rock location, please call 303.663.6274 for an update on possible closure for that day. We would like to ask the citizens to please respect the decision if the site is closed due to inclement weather to please not dump loads over the fence.
